Certification and Security Ratings of M&C MATRIX*** Cylinders

M&C MATRIX*** cylinders provide a high level of protection, confirmed by European cylinder standards:

• EN-1303European standard for door cylinders. It evaluates, among other parameters, resistance to lockpicking (the penultimate digit, classes 1–6) and resistance to physical attacks such as drilling, pulling, and forceful break-in (the last digit, classes 0–D). The higher the class (e.g. 6 and D), the higher the level of protection. (160B0A6D)
• SKGDutch burglary resistance standard, classified by “stars” (from 1 to 3). SKG* (1 star) — basic protection; SKG** (2 stars) — high protection (minimum 3 minutes of burglary resistance) SKG*** (3 stars) — maximum protection (minimum 5 minutes of burglary resistance + protection against pulling). The SKG rating is a key factor for Dutch insurance companies when assessing burglary risk. If the lock does not meet the insurer’s required security class, compensation for theft may be refused. Protection Against Intelligent Opening: Lockpicking, Bumping, and Manipulation

The M&C MATRIX*** cylinder offers high burglary resistance and effectively protects against lockpicking, bumping, and other manipulation methods.

The mechanism uses two coding systems: 5 classic spring-loaded pins and 5 sliders (3) that read the key’s side “snake” cuts.

The large number of coding elements, the special shape of one of the pins (2) , and the key-profile controlling “pin-trap” make it difficult to pick the cylinder or open it by bumping.

Comfort and Additional Features of M&C MATRIX*** Cylinders

All M&C cylinder models feature an emergency function that improves safety and convenience in everyday use — the cylinder can be operated from one side with a key even if a key is inserted and turned on the opposite side (for double cyinders).

This enhances daily usability and eliminates certain risks (for example, when children or elderly people are inside the premises).

The emergency function is available in all models by default, with no additional cost.

Key Protection and Key Copy Control in M&C MATRIX***

M&C MATRIX*** cylinders provide a high level of key protection and key copy control.

The key profile of the MATRIX*** cylinders is patented. Legal key duplication is possible only upon presentation of the owner’s card, significantly reducing the risk of unauthorized key copying.

Additional protection against illegal key duplication is provided by the “undercut” on the key profile. A special “Trap Pin” in the cylinder verifies the key profile and blocks the cylinder if a counterfeit keyblank is used. This mechanism also complicates lockpicking attempts.

Keys are made of nickel-silver (melchior), ensuring durability and reliability in everyday use.
